Our brides & grooms usually have some questions for us.
Here's a few of the most frequent ones with our answers.
How much is Wediting?
It costs £399 to go Wediting. A non-refundable £100 deposit confirms your booking, then the remaining balance is payable no later than 7 days before the agreed date of equipment dispatch.
How do I book?
If you'd like to book, just drop us an email via the contact form requestion a booking form and we'll get back to you. We just require a few details about you and your big day and we can get the ball rolling. When you sign and return the form you agree to all our terms and conditions listed on the form and confirm you have also read all our FAQs.
Do you offer any discounts?
Unfortunately we don't do individual discounts as our price is tailored to be as affordable as possible.
We're regularly featured in wedding magazines & on websites & blogs where discounts & offers are often available for a limited time. If you follow us on Facebook & Twitter you'll be kept up to date with any 'social' discounts too.
We have the right to cancel or refuse the use of any 3rd party promotions/offers/vouchers at any time.
How do I get the cameras & send them back?
We organise a courier to deliver the equipment to an address of your choice no later than the day before your wedding. This is scheduled before 12noon for your convenience. If no one is in, the courier should put a note through the door informing you of attempted delivery. The camera equipment will be taken to the nearest depot of the courier and it becomes your responsibility to collect them. They will not be left in a safe place due to the value of the equipment. The return couriers unfortunately can't pick up at a specific time but we organise these for the next working day after your wedding. If, for any instance, the cameras are not at the agreed address when the courier turns up, it is your responsibility to courier them back to us at your own cost.
Why should I film my own wedding?
It's affordable & fun. It's the reason you paid less in the first place. There are many expensive 'traditional' videography companies out there that we have no problem with, but many brides & grooms don't want a stranger standing in the corner with a huge video camera charging by the hour. With Wediting you are in control, you get the cameras from the day before 'til the day after so you aren't time constantly time checking with the videographer or paying him an extra hour if things are running late. There are also no awkward guests avoiding being on screen, they know the camera people, they play up to it! The cameras really add to the buzz of the day & you can see your wedding from different points of view.
Why should I choose Wediting over similar companies?
We're surprised by other companies out there who charge the same, or often more than we do, and don't actually include any editing! With Wediting, you pay a fixed fee for the complete service that we offer; no package ranking system where the price sky-rockets or additional bolts ons that we charge extra for!
One price, one package, done.
What should I film?
Our cameras are easy to use. We include a 'handy tips & tricks' postcard with the equipment - make sure to show your chosen camera people. The ideal is to make sure you capture an overview of the day. One key point is to make sure you hold the cameras vertically, not sideways. The screen needs to be landscape, not portrait. Anything filmed 'sideways' become unusable during the edit. Don't use the zoom feature (we'd deactivate it if we could!) as when you zoom in, the quality drops & any camera shake gets worse. Try to make sure each shot is steady & lasts a minimum of about 10 seconds. There are up to 6 hours of footage available (1.5-2 hours per camera) but make sure you give yourself time to charge the cameras too (they arrive with you fully charged). Don't get too hung up lighting - as long as you're not getting married in the dark! You can't always ensure the lighting is perfect or the sun is in the right place because every wedding venue is different and your chosen videographers will be in different positions. Sometimes a lens flare creates beauty & one camera shake can become a transition into another.
We always advise having all three cameras filming the most important parts of the day just incase someone's head ends up filling the frame of one of the cameras. Try not to film the entire morning & then not have enough room left on the cameras to film the afternoon & evening. Remember, we're creating a short highlight reel for you so need the key moments of the day, lots of details & plenty of different shots - we can only work with what you shoot for us, so keep a steady hand and capture some good footage.
I'm getting married abroad, can I still go Wediting?
Yes, you can! Of course we'll need to tailor it so you have the equipment sooner as you will be travelling to your wedding destinaion before your big day & will have to arrange the courier to collect once you return back to the UK. With abroad weddings we add an extra charge due to the extra days of equipment 'hire' as well as an increase in our insurance. Please contact us with your wedding details.
How long will my finished video be?
The finished video is edited to a song of your choice, so whatever the length of the song. Most couples choose their first dance song but feel free to pick any song you like. We choose the best footage in out expert opinion for your reel. If the song is too long for the amount of footage we may shorten it to a workable length. Editing to a song allows us to create a 'highlight reel' of your day which is easy to watch & also shareable over the internet.
How long will it be before I can see my video?
We usually turn the highlight reel around for you within a couple of weeks but depending on how busy we are it could be 6-8 weeks. Don't worry though, we've got it in hand, go & enjoy your honeymoon!
How many edits do you do?
One. The affordable price is specifically tailored for one edit to a song of your choice. Don't worry though, all we need is one edit. We're pretty good - if we say so ourselves. We'll take the best bits of footage you've shot & create a wedding reel for you to remember your big day! Take a look at the examples on the Reels page!
Can I send you other footage to add to the film?
Unfortunately no, we don't accept other footage. Having 3 of the same cameras allows you to capture all the moments of the day, ensuring all the footage is the same quality. We can't take other people's footage as varying film formats don't always work with our software & often look totally different to the footage you've captured on the Wediting cameras.
What if the batteries go flat?
The cameras can be charged via any USB device like a laptop. Please check the cameras when they arrive with you & ensure they are charged before your big day. Perhaps give them a boost when you're sitting down for your meal so you have plenty of battery for the evening reception too. They have auto-switch off if left on without recording, a great way of making sure you don't lose too much power!
Do you use the audio from the cameras?
Not usually. We tend to take out the audio & create a video edited to just your song selection. There are moments where we may use bits of audio, but this tends to interupt the song & hence disrupt the emotion of the film. Often the audio isn't the best quality because the microphones on the cameras are too far away from what is being said. There is also the worry that people may say things that you don't want to be heard. You will of course be able to hear everything when we send you all the footage.
What music should I get my video edited to?
Most couples choose the song from their first dance or one that means something to them. Of course the length of video depends on the length of your song but don't choose a longer song just to get a 'better deal'. Short highlight reels are as good as longer ones, and people are more likely to sit through a shorter one. We've edited to loads of different genres & as long as it's downloadable (or you are able to provide it) we can edit to anything you'd like. We purchase PRS licenses every year so our use of all types of music is legal.
Can I share my video on Facebook?
Of course! We'll share it to our Wediting Facebook page so you can share it to your wall & get loads of lovely comments about it. We know that not everybody can make your wedding day because people often have friends & family from all over the world so sharing it on Facebook is ideal so everyone you know can see your big day! This is part of the reason Wediting was created. Affordable, alternative, shareable, fun!
What happens if I break or lose one of the cameras or equipment?
By signing our terms & conditions you agree to pay for a replacement. The cost of the replacement camera changes daily as they are from Amazon but it's probably a cost you don't want to start your marriage paying out for. Weddings cost enough! Please also ensure the flightcase is returned with everything included, if anything is missing you will be charged. Damages must be paid for. Please be careful with the cameras because if they break, it is unlikely that we can get access to your footage. Also, if the equipment breaks or is damaged, what would we give to the next Wediting couple? So a bit of being careful is beneficial for both parties.
What happens if something goes wrong with the footage?
Wediting take precautions to ensure that your videos are not lost or damaged. We cannot guarantee this and you agree to not hold us responsible nor bring a law suit against Wediting or the owners.
How do I receive the highlight reel & raw footage?
We pride ourselves on being an eco-friendly business. We have moved away from DVDs (a lot of plastic!) & as well as uploading your highlight reel to our website (& Facebook) we now send you a 'keepsake' wooden USB stick (which are manufactured from environmentally sustainable materials) with all the footage & the highlight reel uploaded onto it.
How long does Wediting keep my footage for?
We'll keep your footage for 6 months, so if your USB stick doesn't work upon arrival for some reason, fear not, we won't have deleted your footage. However after 6 months, we won't be able to provide you with any raw footage, as with so many weddings, we can't keep all unedited footage for a long time. If we do have to send a second USB stick for reasons that are not Wediting's fault, there will be a cost, chargeable to you, for the USB device & postage. Your highlight reel will be available to view on our vimeo page.
What other eco-friendly things do you do as a business?
Along with the wooden USB sticks, we contribute towards woodland agencies which offsets the fuel from our couriers, making our delivery to & from you 'carbon free'. We also use e-forms for our paperwork meaning our paper consumption is lower. We believe in technology & nature working in harmony.
